Yesterday, I was listening to a presentation where XML was presented as a solution to some technical problem. Now, don't get me wrong, I like XML, but I'd like to make one thing perfectly clear.
XML is a solution to exactly 0 technical problems. It is, however, a reasonable answer to many social problems of software development.
But not any techical ones. Period.
